A Moment in Time, Beautiful Words

Sometimes words come into your life, and into your heart, just when you are in a place to receive them. One moment prior or one after you would have been so absorbed by your own thoughts that their beauty would never have been heard or appreciated. These two poems were my moments of wisdom last week. May they bless your journeys as they have inspired mine!

You and I
We meet as strangers,
each carrying a mystery within us.

I cannot say who you are
I may never know you completely
But I trust that you are a person in your own right
possessed of beauty and value
that are the Earth’s richest treasures.

So I make this promise to you:
I will impose no identities on you,
but will invite you to become yourself
without shame or fear.

I will hold open a space for you in the world
and allow your right to fill it
with an authentic vocation and purpose.
For as long as your search takes,
you have my loyalty.
- "A Vow" by Theodore Roszak

Next to this was "Hope A Thing With Feathers" by Emily Dickinson

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
